Overview

What is Tally on Cloud?

Tally Cloud means running TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 on a remote, managed cloud computer instead of a single office PC — so the software, the company data, and the people using it are no longer tied to one machine or one place. It lets businesses access their Tally data from approved devices and locations while the software and company data stay centrally managed. CoCloud is one such managed Tally Cloud platform for CA firms, SMEs and multi-branch businesses that need secure remote access, multi-user collaboration, automated backups and centralized administration.

Tally on Cloud runs TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 on CoCloud's managed cloud platform instead of a single office PC. It's built for CA firms, SMEs and multi-branch businesses where more than one person or location needs the same live books. You get remote access from any approved device, automatic daily backups, 2FA security and a self-service admin dashboard — without babysitting a server.

How does Tally on Cloud work?

Instead of installing TallyPrime on a single PC, CoCloud sets up a dedicated cloud computer for your business, installs TallyPrime on it from the App Store, moves your existing company data in, and gives each team member their own login. With Tally Prime Cloud, your team can work with TallyPrime from different locations without depending on a local system or office setup — same masters, same vouchers, same GST returns — except the data lives centrally, backs itself up automatically, and can be reached from any approved device.

Why do businesses move Tally to the cloud?

Most businesses move to Tally on Cloud for one of three reasons: more than one person needs to work on the same books, more than one location needs to see the same data, or the team has simply outgrown what one office PC can reliably handle. A managed platform — rather than a bare remote-desktop connection — adds the missing piece: control over who can see what, whether backups ran, and whether the computer is healthy.

Why switch

Why switch from a local server to Tally on Cloud?

More businesses are moving from local servers to Tally on Cloud for secure remote access, automatic backups, better collaboration, and easier IT management. Here are the top reasons why.

Access Tally from anywhere, not just the office

If Tally only runs on one PC in one office, everyone who needs the books — a partner working from home, a manager travelling, a second branch — either waits, emails a data file back and forth, or drives in.

No more server and hardware upkeep

A local Tally server still needs updates, antivirus, backup power, and an eventual hardware refresh. Few small businesses have a dedicated IT person, so upkeep gets skipped or falls on whoever is least busy that week.

Protect your Tally data from hardware failures

A single failed hard disk can mean a lost or corrupted company data file, especially if backups were manual and infrequent. For a finance team, losing weeks of vouchers is a business risk, not just an inconvenience.

Secure remote access without VPN complexity

Setting up a VPN to reach an office server is technical, often unreliable on home internet, and usually falls apart the moment IT support isn't immediately available — a workaround, not a real remote-access solution.

Support remote & hybrid teams

As accounting and finance staff increasingly work outside a single office, software that assumes everyone sits at one machine becomes the bottleneck rather than the tool.

One Tally data set for every branch

Businesses with more than one branch often end up with more than one version of the truth — each location keeping its own file, reconciled manually at month-end. A shared cloud computer removes that step entirely.

Who it's for

Who can benefit from Tally on Cloud?

Tally on Cloud is designed for businesses that need secure, real-time access to accounting data from anywhere — multiple users, branch offices, or remote teams, all on the same live Tally data without depending on a local server.

Chartered Accountants

CA firms manage dozens of client company files and need to grant, restrict, and revoke access quickly during audit season, without emailing a data file each time.

Retail businesses

Retail chains need daily sales, stock, and GST data visible across outlets and to the central finance team, without depending on each store's local PC.

Manufacturing

Manufacturers track inventory, job costing, and production-linked accounting across shop floor and back office, often needing both to see the same data at once.

Distributors & wholesalers

Distributors managing multiple warehouses and sales teams need one live ledger instead of reconciling separate branch files at month-end.

Construction

Project-based businesses need cost tracking accessible to site offices and head office at the same time, especially across multi-year, multi-site projects.

Healthcare

Clinics and hospital groups running multiple facilities need centralized billing and accounting without exposing sensitive financial systems to unmanaged local networks.

Professional services

Consultancies and agencies with staff working from multiple locations need shared access to client billing and project accounts without a physical office server.

SMEs

As your business grows, Tally on Cloud grows with you. Add new users and branches without investing in additional servers or hardware, while keeping everyone on the same live data.

Finance & CFO teams

Group finance functions overseeing several legal entities need consolidated, controlled access across all of them from a single administration point.

Real problems, solved

Common business challenges solved by Tally on Cloud

Rather than a feature list, here is how specific operational problems actually play out for a finance team — and what changes once Tally runs on CoCloud.

The problem

Only one PC can run Tally

Everyone who needs the books has to be physically at that machine.

Business cost

Work queues up

Approvals, GST filing, and reporting all wait on machine availability, not on people's time.

CoCloud fix

Cloud computers + user management

Each authorized user logs into the same computer independently, from their own device.

The problem

Backups depend on someone remembering

A manual export gets skipped during a busy week — and stays skipped.

Business cost

A hardware fault can wipe weeks of data

Recovery becomes guesswork instead of a routine restore.

CoCloud fix

Automated backup to Google Drive

Backups run daily on a schedule, with no manual step and no dependence on memory.

The problem

No visibility into who accessed what

If a figure changes unexpectedly, there's no record of who made the change or when.

Business cost

Accountability gaps during audits

Auditors and management can't easily reconstruct who did what.

CoCloud fix

Audit logs

Login and activity history is tracked centrally, giving a clear record to review.

The problem

Branch offices keep separate files

Head office reconciles multiple versions of the truth at month-end.

Business cost

Slower closing, higher error risk

Manual reconciliation eats finance-team time every single month.

CoCloud fix

Shared cloud computer

All locations work on one live data set — nothing to reconcile after the fact.

The problem

Adding a new employee means buying a PC

Scaling the team means scaling hardware, one machine at a time.

Business cost

Growth gets an IT tax

Hiring plans get slowed down by procurement and setup time.

CoCloud fix

User management + App Store

New users are added from the dashboard in minutes, no new hardware required.

Benefits

What are the benefits of Tally on Cloud?

Each of these isn't an isolated feature — it's a change to how your team works day to day.

Work from anywhere, without losing control

Your team can log in from a laptop at home, a phone during travel, or a branch office PC — while admins keep full visibility over who has access and to what, through the same dashboard.

Add people, not hardware

Growing the finance team no longer means buying and configuring another PC. A new employee gets a login through User Management and is working the same day.

Backups you don't have to remember

Daily, automated backups to Google Drive remove the single biggest cause of Tally data loss: someone forgetting, or not having time, to back up manually.

Security built in, not bolted on

Secure your Tally environment with 2FA, device and time restrictions, network isolation, and role-based access control.

A clear record of who did what

View a complete activity history — user logins, password changes, file uploads or deletions, permission updates and more — so you always know who made what changes and when.

Room to grow without switching platforms

Add users, add storage, or install a second application from the App Store as the business scales — without migrating to new infrastructure each time.

Platform features

What does the CoCloud platform include?

This is what separates CoCloud from a typical "Tally hosting" provider: every cloud computer sits inside a management dashboard built for running business software, not just for keeping a server switched on.

Why CoCloud

Why Is CoCloud the Best Tally on Cloud Solution for Businesses?

Unlike traditional Tally hosting providers that only offer remote server access, CoCloud delivers a complete managed Tally on Cloud platform with User Management, Security Rules, Automated Backups, Audit Logs, and Health Monitoring, helping businesses securely run TallyPrime and Tally ERP 9 from anywhere.

CoCloud is developed and operated by Comhard Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a 5 Star Tally Partner with 27+ years of experience in business software and cloud services.

Managed, not self-administered

You don't manage a Windows Server yourself — CoCloud handles patching, uptime, and the underlying infrastructure, while you manage users and access through the dashboard.

Integrated administration

Users, backups, security rules, and audit logs live in one dashboard, rather than being spread across a hosting control panel, a separate backup tool, and email requests to support.

Business-first approach

Every feature — from Manage Visibility to Health Check — is designed around what a finance team or business owner actually needs to control, not around server jargon.

Support that responds

24×7 human support is included on every plan, not gated behind a premium tier, because accounting problems don't wait for business hours.

Scalability without re-platforming

Add users, storage, or a second application without migrating to different infrastructure — the same instance grows with the business.

Security as a default, not an add-on

Two-factor authentication, network isolation, and encrypted backups apply to every account from day one.

CoCloud vs. typical hosting

How is CoCloud different from traditional Tally hosting?

Many Tally hosting providers offer a remote desktop connection to a server and little else. This reflects common patterns in the market, not a claim about any single competitor.

Migration guide

How do I migrate Tally to the cloud?

Migration is designed to be low-risk: your existing local install stays untouched and available until the cloud computer is confirmed working. Here is exactly what happens, step by step.

  1. 1

    Share your current company data

You provide your existing TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 company data file as-is — no cleanup, reformatting, or re-entry needed before migration starts.

  2. 2

A dedicated cloud computer is set up

CoCloud creates a dedicated instance for your business — not a shared server slot — and installs the correct TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 version from the App Store.

  3. 3

Your data is copied into the new instance

The company data file is transferred into the cloud instance, preserving masters, vouchers, and configuration exactly as they were locally.

  4. 4

Version and settings are matched and verified

The team confirms the TallyPrime version, statutory masters, and any customizations match your local setup before anyone goes live.

  5. 5

    A small group tests first

A few users — typically the finance lead and one or two team members — verify the data and workflow on the cloud instance before the wider team switches over.

  6. 6

Users are added and credentials issued

Once the pilot confirms everything works, the rest of the team is added through User Management and issued their own secure logins.

  7. 7

You go live, local install stays as a fallback

The team switches to the cloud instance for daily work, while your original local install stays untouched and available until you are fully confident.

Versions

TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9 — which runs on the cloud?

Both do. The cloud instance is a Windows computer, so whichever release your team works in today is the one we install. Most businesses move on TallyPrime, but there is no requirement to upgrade as part of going to the cloud — and plenty of teams deliberately finish a financial year on Tally ERP 9 first.

Licensing

What happens to your Tally licence on the cloud?

This is the question we are asked most often, and the answer is short: nothing changes about who owns the licence. CoCloud hosts the computer Tally runs on — the licence itself stays in your name.

You keep your own licence
Your Tally serial stays yours. Moving to the cloud does not mean renting Tally from us — we install it on your instance and activate it with your existing serial and activation key.
Silver vs Gold
A Silver (single-user) licence lets one person work in Tally at a time, even though every team member has their own cloud login. Concurrent multi-user work needs a Gold licence.
TSS subscription
Tally Software Services has to be active to install the latest release and to use the features that depend on it. We flag an expiring TSS before it blocks an update, and can renew it for you.
Moving a licence from your old PC
A licence that is active on a local machine is surrendered there and reactivated on the cloud instance. Your local install stays readable in educational mode until you are sure the move is complete.
If you do not own Tally yet
Comhard Technologies is a 5 Star Tally partner, so a new Silver or Gold licence can be issued and activated on your instance as part of the setup.

Licence questions are easier to answer against your actual serial and TSS dates. Send us your Tally details and we will confirm exactly what the move involves before anything is changed.

Security

Is Tally on Cloud secure?

CoCloud protects Tally data with enterprise-grade infrastructure, multi-layer physical and network security, two-factor authentication, role-based access rules, and encrypted, automated backups — the same standard on every instance, not an add-on tier.

T4

Why "Tier IV" matters for accounting data

Data centers are ranked in tiers by redundancy. CoCloud runs on Tier IV infrastructure — the highest standard — built with duplicate power and network paths so maintenance or an equipment fault on one path doesn't interrupt service. For daily accounting work, that means fewer unplanned interruptions.

01

High Availability

Redundant infrastructure paths keep your workspace reachable even during maintenance.

02

Redundant Architecture

Duplicate power and network paths remove single points of failure.

03

Physical Security

Access-controlled, monitored data centers — not an office server room.

04

Encryption

Data encrypted at rest and in transit between your device and workspace.

05

Access Control (2FA)

Two-factor authentication and Security Rules control exactly who can log in and what they can see.

06

Network Isolation

Each instance is isolated from others on the same infrastructure.

07

Automated Backup

Daily backups to Google Drive run without a manual step, tracked in the dashboard.

08

Audit & Accountability

Audit Logs record login and activity history so a lost device or a disputed figure doesn't become a mystery.

Performance

Does performance slow down as you add users?

Each CoCloud user gets a dedicated memory allocation, with storage that scales by user tier and is monitored continuously through Health Check — so issues are visible before they affect your team.

Dedicated resources

Per-user memory allocation, expandable per instance.

Storage that scales

Grows with total users, from small teams to large ones.

Concurrent users

No forced slowdown as more users are added.

Health monitoring

Ongoing visibility into instance status.

Because each business runs on its own dedicated computer rather than a shared, oversold server, your team's performance never depends on how many other customers happen to be active at the same time.

Customer use cases

How different businesses actually use Tally on Cloud

CA firm

A 12-partner CA practice managing 90+ client companies

The firm needed to grant temporary, restricted access to junior staff during audit season, without ever sending a client's data file by email. Role-based Security Rules and User Management let partners assign time-boxed access per client company, and Audit Logs give a clean record for internal review.

Result: audit season access requests handled in minutes, not email threads.

Manufacturer

A mid-size manufacturer with shop floor and back office

Production staff needed to log stock movement while the finance team worked on costing and GST at the same time, from different physical locations. A shared cloud instance meant both teams worked on the same live data, with no end-of-day file merging.

Result: stock and costing data stayed in sync in real time, not at month-end.

Distributor

A distributor with three regional warehouses

Each warehouse previously kept its own Tally file, reconciled manually against head office every month — a process that regularly took several days and surfaced discrepancies late. Moving to one shared instance removed the reconciliation step entirely.

Result: month-end closing time dropped from days to hours.

Retail chain

A retail chain expanding from 4 to 11 outlets in two years

Each new outlet previously meant procuring and configuring a new PC for billing and accounting. With Tally on Cloud, each new outlet's staff are added as users on the existing instance, live within the day the outlet opens.

Result: onboarding a new outlet's accounting access became a same-day task.

Pricing

How much does Tally on Cloud cost?

Pricing is quoted per user, based on your team size, memory, and storage needs. Every plan includes the full administration platform — user management, security rules, backup, audit logs, and health check — not a stripped-down tier.
